England 5 star rating1/12/2009 Cara and I visited San Fran in November 08 and found this fantastic restaurant one block down from our hotel on Fishermans Wharf. Once discovered we had our breakfast there every morning & did we get a fantastic breakfast! Christine's food was of exceptional quality, made from scratch which you could certainly taste. Our favourite had to be her Granma's good old blueberry pancakes, they really were absolute heaven drenched in maple syrup of course! I have tried to make them myself but they are nothing like what we had! Christine's restaurant had such a lovely, warm, homely feel which we both loved, the dicor was unusually done but like I said to Christine it has a great uniqueness to it & reflects her vibrant personality. All in all her staff were incredibly friendly, her food was simple and so very tasty, in our opinion that's just how it should be. Value for money was ok but San Fran is generally expensive anyway from what we are used to but I guess you get what you pay for & its certainly worth it. So thank you Christine & your staff for your great food & very kind hospitality. Oh and if your really lucky you get to meet Niall who has breakfast there occasionally and is just hilariously funny, a fine character! 12/28/2008 Just to give you a warning, there will be many exclamation points in this review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My new favorite breakfast spot in the city!! Had the biscuits & gravy...delicious!! Also tried the pancakes from my friends plate....delicious!! I was hungry so I also ordered the crab benedict......delicious!! I'm happy to have found this place. Can't wait to go back and try the other items!! 10/19/2008 If you are looking for the best mom and pop place in the city for breakfast this is it! The owners are old school San Franciscans who've been in the business all their lives at several other San Francisco mainstays. This is about as far from a chain restaurant as one can get.....thank god! The food is fresh, made to order, high quality ingrediants are used and the service is extremely personable. You owe it to yourself to go. Sure, it's in a touristy area but do not let this deter locals, it's the type of place that is quickly becoming a tradition for touists and locals alike. If you are looking for a high quality, unique dining experience for breakfast (served all day) this is it. 8/18/2008 What can I say? Having lived in SF for over 10 years this has got to be the best breakfast in town! Obviously the person who wrote the bad review is not from SF and doesn't have a clue about fresh food. The eggs are always cooked perfect! My friend even ordered an extra side of hash browns after drooling over mine;) Oh and if you have dogs- bring then along and sit outside. Johann and Christine even make your dogs feel like a million bucks. I also highly recommend trying some of Christine's famous spicy peanut brittle. Lastly- there is always parking down there so worth the trip if you don't live near Fisherman's Wharf. Everyone I bring is sold. You will be too. 1/13/2008 I came to this brand spanking new establishment last weekend with a friend & fellow patron of Peter D's on Broadway. Why did we venture down to the Wharf for breakfast, you ask? Because our favorite 12 years strong - Peter D's staffer - Christine - has finally decided to branch out & do what she's made a career of best and opened her own place. Beach Street Grill is her own vision, with her own recipes (& some of her mothers - who's had 3 of her own restaurants in Marin) with a splash of her own fun-loving personality all over the restaurant. Christine - a Bay Area native and her husband Johan (of Tadich Grill for years & years) decided she knew what the Wharf needed most. Homemade meals. They serve breakfast all day and only use fresh ingredients. No preservatives. Homemade Blueberry Pancakes, Biscuits & Gravy, Hollandaise sauce for the Eggs Benedict that are all out of this world!! She even uses homemade mayonnaise. She goes for all organic greens - although would not venture to say she's 'organic' or 'vegan' by any means... just healthy, FRESH greens. The Salad Bar is in the works & planning to give Pluto's a run for its money. She's serving up Fresh Fish for dinner & you're lucky if you get to taste her spicy, amazing Peanut Brittle - which I'm told will be available to sell to the public by summer hopefully. Stop by, say 'Hi' to Christine & Johan, check out her sister Kathy Scott's fun gifts & accessories and stay for a tasty home-cooked meal. You'll leave just feeling better about your day. I'm sure.
