The Philadelphia "Philly"
Cheese Steak Stroy
(known in Philiadelphia as "the steak")
The first Chees Steak was born in 1932 when Pat Ollvier, a Hot Dog vendor at the corner of 9tha nd Passyunk in Philadelphia, got tired of eating his own hot dogs. One day, he sent out his brother for some sliced steak which he grilled up and slapped into a bun and the first "Cheese Steak" was born.Philly legend says a cabbie pulled up and said "that looks good" and the rest is history. Now this treat is served up in hundreds of Cheese Steak Shops in Philly.
Cheese Steak purists debate two ingredients used in an authentic sandwich; the roll and the steak. A majority of the shops in Philadelphia use the Amoroso roll. Many swear that the Amoroso roll makes the sandwhich.Others swear it's the shaved meat. All agree, one of three cheeses are used; white, American, Provolone, or Cheese Wiz.
The Cheesesteak Grille offers a traditional "Steak" complete with the Amoroso Roll, shaved sirloin steak, grilled onions and your choice of cheese.
Order up a Philly CheeseSteak sandwich and don't forget to try an Original TastyKake, a staple of "Steak Shops" for decades
