Entries are coming in at a record pace for the 43rd Annual Paul Reese Memorial Clarksburg Country Run. The race is Sunday, November 9 at Delta High School in the small town of Clarksburg, 12 miles south of Sacramento on the Sacramento River. The events feature a 20-mile, 30 km (18.6-mile), half-marathon (13.1-mile), 5 km (3.1-mile), and 30 km relay (three people run 10 km each). For the kids, there are 1/2-mile and 1-mile fun runs. The long races are perfect for those training for a fall or winter marathon and all distances feature flat, fast and certified courses in a scenic, rural setting. The first 1,200 entrants in the long distance races receive a Nike Pro long sleeve tech shirt. The first 300 in the 5 km receive a short sleeve Nike Dri-fit tech shirt. With entries up 60% compared to last year, be sure to register soon to reserve your shirt! ----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------- jamie whitmore fights cancer You Can Help! Our friend, Jamie Whitmore, has cancer, and it's a particularly nasty, rare form of a sarcoma (nerve sheath tumor). Fleet Feet Sports has organized fund raising to help Jamie with her expenses. Please take the time to read Jamie's story and donate if you can. Jamie is a gifted athlete with some special talents that she will never use again. She is a professional Xterra (off-road) triathlete with 41 career wins, including 6 times as U.S. Pro Champion and one time as a World Champion. She was born and raised in this area and still lives here with her husband Courtney, also our friend and just a great guy. Jamie and Courtney have been fervent activists and fundraisers for the incurable, inherited Huntington's disease. Both are 32 years old. |
