We didn't go here expecting a loud, crowded bar. We just wanted a mellow ale house to grab a few pints and some good grub after our softball game. This place hit the mark. Driving up to it I couldn't tell if it was even open. It has super-tinted glass in the front and it's tucked way back in a hurting shopping center. So I was happy the door opened when I pulled it. I think all the cars in the parking lot were for this place....it was busy, but it had plenty of room for more heads. Tons of TVs all over the place, pool tables, a dart board court. But the best thing to me was the 15 handles they have of good beers. Couple this with VERY friendly service and good food (tried the burger, nachos and potato skins) and we found just what we were looking for.
I can't give it five stars because I didn't see an outside patio, plus I think you need to hit the juke box to get the music going as there were no tunes playing in the background. But all in all this place is pretty sweet and it will be an after game tradition from here on out.

Saturday we went to see this band called The Hits at the Palm St. Pub. The band was great, the pub, so-so. The first problem is that it's completely off the grid; and for those of you who know me, know I would prefer not to have to drive anywhere. The second problem was the male bartender working that night.
I know the place can't help its location & really, for the amount of people that were there, I'd say they do a fine business, but it could also be that there just isn't that much to do in Carmichael? As for the douche behind the bar, he ignored us for quite awhile, in fact, never turned his shiny head to even acknowledge that we needed help. I had to get the woman bartender at the OTHER end of the bar to retrieve my ID. Yes, that's all I wanted, my ID! What a lame-o.
As for the bar (it really should be called a bar, not a pub) it was okay. Pretty bright inside, I think they could use some dimming of the lights so you can't see all 'the beautiful people'. They have some pool tables, shuffleboard (which you have to pay a DOLLAR to use...LAME) & there might have been darts.
They do serve food & a couple of my friends ordered some. Since I didn't try any of it, I shouldn't really comment, but it did look like a bit like greasy bar fare...not surprising.
We really were there for the band & they did a fantastic job of playing, yep, you guessed it; The Hits! I'd go back, but only if there's a good band playing.

I started coming here just for the food long before I was of drinking age, so this place holds a special place in my little heart.
This place is tucked away in the corner (literally) of a strip mall, and difficult to see from the street, but certainly worth a trip with some good friends. Their food is excellent, save room for the fries, and they have specials that rotate daily. The staff has always been very nice, and even on nights when they are slammed, they seem to be having a good time.
There are pool tables and darts, pretty standard, and it is as dark inside as a bar should be. The crowd is very low-key, like a suburban neighborhood bar's standard clientele. I'm not much for the singles scene in trendy bars and nightclubs (is it just me who feels their IQ dropping the moment you step into some places?), so when I've got some friends and not much else planned, we head over for a basket of fries and a few beers. This place won't "wow" you, but a neighborhood bar doesn't need to.
