| Details: That's founder John Snook serving the maid of California at the California State Fair in the early 1960s. We still make the Peanut Brittle exactly as it was made more than 40 years ago. Eric Snook (3rd generation) has perfected the art of Peanut Brittle. He can be seen cooking, pouring onto the 8 foot marble slab, spreading, flipping, and stretching Snooks Peanut Brittle to our classic thin finish. Snook's Candies - A 3rd generation family of candy makers. Established in 1963 by John and Jeannine Snook (you can still see them helping out in the store!) Jim & Renee Snook are owners and operators of Snook's Chocolate Factory. We are the second generation in a family of candy makers with nearly four decades of dedication to producing superior confections including the finest chocolates, truffles, & brittles. Nestled in the heart of Historic Folsom, California is our small kitchen, factory, and store where our candy is made fresh daily. In April 2002, we made some major changes & moved 1 short block over to our current location at 731 Sutter Street (after nearly 18 years at 702 Sutter Street!). This new store is actually a Chocolate Factory on-view to the public. We arranged for the chocolate dipping room & marble brittle tables to be behind glass walls enabling all who enter the store the opportunity to watch us work with the chocolates & candies. Knowing that what we do is unique, we wanted to share the experience. Jim is assisted in his candy making by his wife, Renee. She has learned to properly temper the chocolate, run the 38-foot long chocolate machine, mold, mark & hand dip chocolates. Her talents & creativity do not end here. Over the years, she has created a style of simple elegance through the selection of hand tied ribbons, exclusive wrapping papers, and beautifully designed gift boxes & baskets. Her secret is a delicate balance of color & texture accented with layers of ribbons. 3rd generation Eric Snook, began apprenticing the art of confectionery over 4 years ago. He now is making a majority of the confections. Some of his specialties are; caramel apples, fudge, toffee, caramel corn, truffles, handcracked cinnamon, and of course Snook's amazing Peanut Brittle. Making Snook's Candies is an art and Eric is very proud of the skills he has gained and very much enjoys getting samples into the mouths of our customers. What better way to show off your work than to let people eat it. Daniel Snook is a hard worker and specializes in customer service. He has a natural gift of making customers feel welcome and making sure they are well taken care of. His first love is music. Daniel has played the guitar since about the age of 10 and has never stopped. A day does not go by that he has not picked up one of his many guitars. Daniel has also written and recorded several songs and also sings with a unique style. Alex Snook is entering his senior year at Folsom High School and is working part time. The experience working with customers at Snook's has been great getting Alex used to interacting with lots of different personalities. Together with our 3 sons,nieces,nephews and our family of valued employees, Jim & Renee have succeeded in creating exceptional confectionery treats and gift selections that are uniquely Snook's Candies! We have only one location and it's right here in the heart of Historic Old Town Folsom. We believe bigger is not better...it is what makes our products exceptional. Please Enjoy!
